Lake Washington High School Theatre Booster Board

Who are we? We are a group of dedicated parents of kids who are passionate about theatre. We care deeply about all the kids in our Lake Washington High School family who are involved in the theatre program and are working hard to help our program succeed and thrive now and in the future. We have a monthly booster board meeting listed on our calendar that is open to all who want to attend. We also welcome warmly anyone who wants to join us in volunteering! Please reach out to any member of our team with any questions. Here is our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Statement.

This parent-led organization provides support for the Theatre company in many ways, including:

  • Selling StarGrams during shows to acknowledge the cast and crew

  • Hosting events to build a sense of community around the theatre

  • Collaborating with the director during productions to help acquire costumes, props, and more

  • Holding fundraising events to raise money for the LWHS Theatre Booster Program

  • Promoting LWHS Theatre events through posters, programs, social media, and neighborhood websites

  • Providing support during productions, such as ticketing, ushering, concessions, and meals for cast and crew

The President coordinates booster board communication, meets weekly with producers, prepares agenda for monthly board meetings, and works closely with our director, theatre manager, and producers to ensure deadlines and goals are met.

Shanna is a huge fan of both theatre and kids, so she is doubly excited to serve on the booster board. Her goal is to help each production run seamlessly, reduce stress for all involved, and to sell out every show! She became an instant fan of LWHS drama and director Morgan Heetbrink when her then middle school daughter Brooke asked her family to attend "Beauty and the Beast" in May 2018. Brooke is now in high school and has been thrilled to have the chance to learn and grow through participating in the program here.

Mike is a proud Parent of Piper Begley, a Sophomore at LW this year. He has been dancing and performing since college. He has had ensemble roles in West Side Story, Guys & Dolls & Man of LaMancha. He was President of a local Ballroom Dance Team for many years. During those years he was a part of producing (4) original musical productions. Mike was thrilled to contribute some Tango Choreography for one of the dances in last year's presentation of Chicago. When Mike isn't pursing performing or dancing you can find him in the role of Engineering Manager at a Cement Plant at the South end of Seattle. He also enjoys being in nature and water & snow skiing. Mike is excited to be a part of the theatre family this year.

Andrea was in a theatre production back in her high school days, and recently produced a virtual musical production of Miracle! written by her late father, but as a former drum major she has always identified more with the marching band geeks. Now, with two kids in LWHS Theatre and Tech, Andrea is all-in on LWHS Theatre and has been impressed by the brave, talented kids putting on the LWHS shows! She appreciates the supportive environment that Morgan Heetbrink, Mark Staiff and their teams have created, and felt instantly welcomed by the friendly and dedicated booster parents.

The Volunteer Coordinator creates and monitors sign-up geniuses to fulfill show volunteer needs. They check in and orient the volunteers at performances.

Our Cast Fuel Chair coordinates providing meal, snack, and beverage options for cast and crew during tech week and performances. They manage the sign-up genius for meals and volunteers, as well as securing food donations.

Our Front of House chair plans and organizes our sales of concessions and star grams. This includes purchasing items for concessions and training and overseeing front of house volunteers.

Evelyn has been volunteering with school theater productions ever since her daughter Vada was an adorable little froglet in her elementary school's production of "Honk Jr!". She has really appreciated the opportunity to get to know so many of Vada's cast and crew friends over the years - it's been a joy to watch them grow into such talented young adults!
