AUDITION SONGS
Some crucial tips. Don't skip this: Sometimes you are just completely stumped what you should sing for an audition. If you are serious about your audition songs, pick songs that really showcase you vocal ability and range. Professionals have several songs in their well-rehearsed repertoire. Shy away from well-known songs (Wicked, I see you!). Something more obscure will go better.
If you are auditioning for a Musical Theater College intake, the stakes are never higher! Below you will find some PDF's of what others have sung and got in, sorted by the most successful songs and how often they have been used. Lists are courtesy of Inga Davis-Rutter.
Make sure you perform (ACT IT!) the song, don't just sing it. Many auditions only require 16 or sometimes even just 8 bars of a song. Pick those bars carefully from the song to strut your stuff: Act the song, be a character. And know the whole song, in case they like what you are doing and ask for it!
