MisCast Cabaret

What is MisCast Cabaret?

As actors we all have specific roles we love. Either previously we were in that role in a production, or we saw a performance and put that character on our Acting Bucket List.

But some roles are beyond our reach. We will never have the chance to perform those onstage – whether because we are of a different gender, too old, a different race, or have different physical characteristics. But it doesn't mean we haven't dreamed of what would be. Perhaps, if we could get a crack at it – just once!

Well, here's your chance to hear us present the dream roles we will never perform in a staged production! Miscast Cabaret is a one-night event featuring LWHS Theatre students performing songs from roles that most likely no director would ever cast us in.

Changing the roles can alter the dynamic or meaning of a song, which creates a new perspective for the audience. The results are sometimes thought-provoking, other times hilarious. Maybe you’ll see a female Gaston or a male Eliza Hamilton. A Caucasian person singing Breathe from In the Heights or a near-adult singing Naughty from Matilda. Join us for this entertaining mix-up of your favorite Broadway songs.

Our Miscast Cabaret is run entirely by students and is presented by the LWHS Drama Boosters. All proceeds go to support our theatre program. Watch social media and our posters for the date of the next MisCast Cabaret.
